Albena – the family resort
Albena is a one of the most luxurious Bulgarian sea resorts situated on the Black sea coast. It is located in northeastern Bulgaria, district of Dobrich. Varna, the sea capital of Bulgaria is about 30 km away and about 30 min. drive with a car. Albena opened for business on 24th of August 1969. The resort has a planed architecture and a lot of modern hotels, some of them are franchisees of famous world resort groups such as RIU hotels & resorts. About 90% of the visitors of the resort are foreign tourists, mainly from Germany. Albena is a resort for family holidays with its peaceful and quite environment. Albena also offers sport attractions. If you want to play tennis, football, swim or ride a horse, the Albena Sports Center is the place to go. Once there, you may want to visit the sightseeing in the region. One of them is Aladja monastery – the most famous rock monastery in Bulgaria founded around the 13th century. There is also Cape Kaliakra – with ancient rouines from a castle and the Varna Dolphinarium. If you are an English or German guest of Albena, expect that the most of the employees in the resort at least understand basic English and German. The management is supposed to have good language skills in both English and German. Most of the staff usually speaks Russian as well. Especially by people that are from the older generation. Albena also offers a possibility for conference tourism. The Congress center is in hotel Dobrudja. There are many events hosted there both for domestic and international companies. The last interesting fact about this pearl of the Bulgarian resort industry is that it hosts high schools proms and graduation parties in the end of May.
